The Scenario

Several months after their last adventure in the desert, the O’Connell’s had finally found peace in their lives as they settle back down in their large mansion back in London. However peace was never meant to last for long for the Medjai Ardeth Bey had walked amongst their doorstep one fateful evening and had introduced them to yet another adventure. But this time the adventure has no true story for the key artifact within this adventure, the amulet of time travel has the ability to travel to different locations, never staying in one spot for a long period of time. Now the O’Connell’s find themselves in yet another deadly race against Imhotep and the Djed (yet another secret society). With many twists and turns in this epic tale the fate of humanity lies within your hands. This is Evil Eyes, an intermediate to advance RPG based on The Mummy. More?

The Newspaper

When the Medjai arrive at the Djed campsite they find themselves in the middle of a sandstorm created by Imhotep in which was used for their means to escape. (The World Is Not Enough) Upon escaping the Djed (and villains) they end up boarding their train in which is headed for Cairo. The next location of the amulet has been put into play by the three who can actually locate it, Imhotep, Anck-su-namun, and Evelyn. (The Dangerous Game) But much to the heroes and Medjai’s dismay, they find themselves far behind from the Djed, for their only means of transportation cannot keep up with a train.

So, where’d the name Evil Eyes come from?
While searching for a word that meant amulet or talisman for the name of the site in the thesaurus, I came across Evil Eyes. Evil Eyes means ‘a look that is believed to have the power of inflicting harm’. I think it was actually perfect for the name of the game even though it may seem a little odd at first. ^_^;

What are the Djed? How are they different from the Medjai?
The Djed are the antagonists of the game. They are followers of Osiris, and perform different rituals to that of the Medjai. They were the ones to resurrect Imhotep and Anck-su-namun in this game and are currently the ones with the first amulet. More information on the Djed will be added soon.

Where’d the name Djed come from?
The Djed name came from the Djed Pillars of Osiris. The name seemed to fit so I just snagged it and used it for the game.

Do we have to know anything on the mummy series to join?
You should… you should at least know mild information on the series as it’ll give you a hint on what the games about. The series is rather entertaining and is strongly recommended on watching/reading. If you’re into Egypt you’ll definitely enjoy it!

Can I become a staff!?! I swear I’ll be good and active!
Haha. Nice try. But the answers no. We will ask you if you want to become a staff. Sometimes though, we’ll open up staff applications and we’ll give off various jobs which we need done. If asked this question any other time we will give you a 10% warning. If it continues we will put you on a ban or on probation for 1 week.

My post count isn’t rising!
If you’re posting anywhere other than an RPG area, then it won’t raise. Only sections that allow post counts are Journals, London, Egypt, Other Locations, Letters, Quick RPG, and other RPG sections. Everywhere else post count is disabled due to the money system.

Can my character be the child of (insert random canon character here)?
Unless it was mentioned in the series then NO. Original Characters are NOT allowed to be the son/daughter of ANY canon unless given proper permission from the GM and the character alone has a logical explanation of such. We will not let just anyone be the child of a canon so if you think you can be original enough then by all means feel free to ask. But rarely will we accept children of canon’s that are original characters as they are highly looked down upon UNLESS the scene was played out in the game someone agreed to take the role and it was discussed in the plotting area and the GM still gave the okay.

Can my character be an extended family member to a canon?
This rule is a little late to be added. Unfortunately we no longer accept characters that are related to canons. We don’t want our cast being filled with such characters when clearly there are many, many possibilities for original characters.

I want my character to be a sibling or child of (insert random canon here). Is it allowed?
At the moment we are currently not looking for these types of characters. More than likely we have gotten quite a few applications like this and it has become the least bit of interest. Try to refrain from creating a character that's a sibling or child of a canon. Unless it was plotted in the plotting room more than likely staff will say no.

Can my character be the wife or (insert random thing here) of Ardeth Bey?
This surprisingly has been another one which we’ve gotten quite a bit of. Both the player of Ardeth and I have decided that Ardeth is not the type to be in a form of relationship with anyone. It’s strongly suggested though that you contact Ardeth about this issue. More than likely things may change but as for now, the answer’s no.

So, what's the year of the game?
The Evil Eyes storyline takes place in 1933. Currently we started the game in the middle of August, several months after the last adventure the O'Connell's had. As the game moves on be aware that the year may change as months go by.

How will the canon characters be judged on?
For canon characters we go by detail and skill alone. We know that most canons don’t have a major role in the series unlike others; however we want to make sure we are choosing the best person suitable for the role of a canon. This means that canons have a very, very important part in Evil Eyes and we want to make sure that we give it to the person best suitable for the role. No we are not picking favoritism but we want to make sure that the person as accurate or close to being accurate as possible. We also choose on how much “heart and soul” is put into the work of the character when the person applies and starts posting in the game. This also means that canon characters are going to be judged on strictly and it also means from this point on we will be asking all staff members to review a canon so it isn’t one person choosing the role. It used to be this way but not anymore. We also would like it if canons are capable of writing over our limit which means that they’d be able to write at least 250 words per post; however a majority of the time we will accept it when a canon decides to post between 150 or 250.

So what is the “heart and soul”?
The heart and the soul is our way of saying that there is life into the character. It means that the person writing for them is not writing for them but as them, almost as if they were truly dedicated into playing the character correctly and giving it their fullest potentials to make sure that they play it correctly. We know that some people may not have this ability; however we would really like to see this with a majority of our players.

Someone else who is in my RPG Topic hasn’t responded within a certain amount of days, and I can’t do anything without their response. Can I move to a different thread?
If that person hasn’t posted within 5 days or so to your thread you are welcome to move to a new thread. Please however make sure that you edit your post to a point where it shows your character leaving. Not only does it help them know but it helps us know that you left the thread.

How’d you get the forum to look the way it does? What codes do you use?
Please, please, PLEASE DON’T ask Vicky (Evelyn) or any member on the forums how we got our skin to look the way it is. We don’t want our style to be copied; we worked REALLY hard to get to the point where we are now….and we’d greatly appreciate it if you didn’t steal from us. Steal from us and you’ll die. Trust me, I find ways to find people who steal. Don’t ask me how but I do. So please…think of your OWN style for your forums. DON’T steal other people’s ideas! If you really want to know our codes then go search for them YOURSELF. Don’t copy directly off of ours…
